In frightening and uncertain times, people find it hard to feel hopeful. Previous studies show that having hope for the future helps build our resilience—the ability to get through tough times and recover more quickly from setbacks. My research suggests that hope can help promote positive stress, ward off negative stress, develop a shield of resilience, and reduce anxiety, trauma, and depression. Stop trying to manage negative stress. Instead, build positive stress with our products and resources!
Prior Training Provided by John
I have recently helped a school district create curricula for the students of the Romanian Public School System. I also helped the Hong Kong Non-Traditional Education Program provide mental health services for their clients. Additionally, I have worked with unemployed employees to find ways to prevent negative stress and generate positive stress.
The administrators wanted their students and clients to be less stressed, more motivated, more in control of their futures and financial well-being, and more socially and emotionally intelligent. We created materials and designed ways to easily and efficiently integrate hope-based materials into the "traditional" curriculum so that people felt more in control of their academic and personal futures. I then conducted research to assess the effectiveness of the integration of hope-based resilience materials into student education.
